Smith Mountain Lake knows how to celebrate Independence Day. Next week, 2012 SML fireworks events will take place yet again to commemorate the favorite American holiday. Summertime fireworks festivities coupled with the stunning lake view make up some of the lake area’s most anticipated attractions.
A July 1st Moneta FireWORX Fest in Downtown Moneta will help kick the week off with live music by The Worx, food, drinks, children’s activities and of course, fireworks. Cost is $5 per person for anyone above the age of ten. Ten and under get in free. Check out monetafire.com for more information.
The day-of event on July 4th at Parkway Marina will feature family-friendly attractions, a car and boat show, live music with The Worx, a popular area band, food vendors, arts and crafts and amusement rides. Rain date is Thursday, July 5. A strict no-wake zone rule is in effect from 7:30 p.m. that evening until heavy spectator traffic has dispursed.
